Natalie Merchant live 2000 in Win­ter Park, Colorado performing the pro-union song written in 1931 by Florence Reece. Reece was married to a United Mine Workers union organizer who was involved in the Harlan Coal Mine Strike (Kentucky) which started in that year and lasted for several years.
